The Program
The International PDS in Lusaka, Zambia (IPDS Zambia) enables teacher candidates and faculty members from Buffalo State and the University of Zambia to learn from each other educational practices considered exemplary in their respective cultures.
IPDS Zambia is a 3-credit course that includes 3 weeks abroad in May/June. While abroad, participants collaborate with teacher candidates and faculty at the University of Zambia, observe Zambian teaching models and practices for science, math, and social studies at Libala Basic School, visit the Chikumbuso Womens and Orphans Project that provides an alternative lifestyle for vulnerable women and children, and enjoy excursions in and around this capital city. Participants also participate in a pen-pal exchange with students from Libala Basic. |
The Participants
As they transition through the various adventures of their teach & study abroad experience, participants share moments, visions, and thoughts through journal entries and photographs. Read about each participant's adventures and perceptions on their individual blog pages. Share your comments, questions, and supportive words as you peruse...and stop back often!
IPDS Zambia is open to all Buffalo State currently enrolled teacher education students. Visit the Buffalo State IPDS program page for deadlines and application information.
